New Design
For 2026, the Defender receives several updates, particularly in terms of styling, including new front and rear bumpers, as well as a new textured pattern for the bonnet inserts and side vents. A standard gloss black grille bar now spans the space between the redesigned headlights. The rear taillights are now flush with the bodywork. Inside the cabin, a 13.1-inch Pivi Pro infotainment screen, a repositioned gear selector, and a redesigned centre console are included. New features include Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control, which automatically adjusts the throttle in off-road conditions, a driver attention monitoring system that alerts if focus is lost for too long, and the Defender 130 can now be equipped with an integrated air compressor.
Trophy Edition
The special Defender 110 Trophy edition offered this year is inspired by the legendary vehicles of the Camel Trophy challenges. Available on the 110 version, it stands out with a unique exterior paint option (Deep Sandglow Yellow or Keswick Green), 20-inch Gloss Black wheels, a contrast roof, and specific graphic elements, as well as Windsor leather seats with memory electric adjustments. This edition also includes practical features such as a roof rack, a side ladder, and reinforced mudguards, making the Trophy a particularly suitable choice for uncompromised off-road adventures.
OCTA Edition
The 2026 Defender OCTA is the ultra-performance, top-of-the-line version of the Defender lineup, powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 mild hybrid (MHEV) engine producing 626 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Available in the 110 body style, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. Its active 6D Dynamics suspension manages terrain inputs at 32 Hz for improved off-road stability, with 11.7 inches (290 mm) of ground clearance and 33-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires. It is designed for extreme adventures, combining luxury with exceptional performance.
Engines
Depending on the chosen trim, the 2026 Defender offers a range of powertrains. The S and X-Dynamic SE versions typically use a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine, providing a strong balance between power and efficiency for mixed-use driving. Higher trims such as the V8 and OCTA feature a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 MHEV engine, delivering around 626 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive, for more robust performance and enhanced off-road capability.
Off-Road Capability
The 2026 Defender continues to embrace its adventurous spirit thanks to technical features designed for demanding climates and varied Canadian terrain. Its two-speed transfer case, automatic all-wheel drive management, and assistance systems such as Wade Sensing for water fording, along with dedicated off-road driving modes, enhance its off-road capability. Active safety aids and tools such as the 360-degree camera also make it easier to manoeuvre on difficult or snow-covered surfaces.
The Different 2026 Defender Variants
Compact format, Defender 90
The smallest Defender model, the 90 comes standard with the 2.0-litre engine, although the other powertrains are also available. Shorter in length at just 4.5 metres, it offers a tighter turning radius for improved manoeuvrability. It provides five seats and a 1,263-litre cargo capacity. A sixth seat can also be added via a front-row jump seat.
The versatile Defender 110
Longer and more practical, the 2026 Defender 110 focuses on versatility. It can accommodate up to seven passengers in a flexible cabin layout. Beyond its increased cargo capacity, its strong roof allows up to 168 kg in dynamic mode. When stationary, the roof can support a tent and full camping equipment, including occupants, up to 300 kg. The Defender 110 is one of the two models, along with the 90, that can be equipped with the most powerful 518-horsepower engine.
Power and space in the Defender 130
This is the longest Defender 2026. Its 5.3-metre length enables a 3,022 mm extended wheelbase and allows seating for up to eight passengers with 2,516 litres of cargo space when all rear seats are folded down. Air and dynamic suspension systems continuously adapt to road conditions, while enhanced stability control helps the large SUV handle all challenges on and off the road.
